Communities and neighborhoods of Katy, Texas

This page is the honest map of the Katy area. Every community below is labeled with its true geography, whether it sits in Katy city limits, in unincorporated greater Katy, or in an adjacent town such as Fulshear, and with its school district where we have a verified source. Four communities have full guides; the rest are accurate overviews we will deepen over time. We would rather have one correct paragraph than a shiny page of guesses.

How to read this page

Three labels that mean different things

City of Katy: inside the incorporated city limits, with Katy city services and police. Despite its name, the City of Katy is a modest small town, and few of the region's big master plans are inside it. Cane Island and Old Town are the notable exceptions.

Greater Katy: unincorporated Fort Bend or Harris County land with a Katy mailing address. This is where Cinco Ranch, Grand Lakes, Seven Meadows, Firethorne, Elyson, Sunterra and the rest actually sit. Residents are governed by the county, MUDs and community associations, not by Katy city government.

Katy ISD: the school district that covers most of this geography and reaches into parts of three counties (Harris, Fort Bend, Waller). Attendance is set by exact address, so neighboring communities can feed different schools and even different districts.
