The monthly outdoor market on Second Street that anchors Old Town's community life, held the third Saturday of the month from March through November, with the December edition becoming the Old-Fashioned Christmas Festival on the first Saturday. The City of Katy also runs its own market series, The Katy Exchange, on the Historic Town Square, so check which market is running on a given date.
The area's big holiday market: roughly 200 vendors, Santa photos, food trucks, a petting zoo, a beer garden and about 50,000 pounds of snow. The City of Katy runs its own separate holiday kickoff at Historic Town Square the same day, listed below.

Katy Nutcracker Exchange & City of Katy Christmas Tree Lighting
The City of Katy's holiday kickoff on the Historic Town Square: the Nutcracker Exchange shopping market with local vendors and Santa, followed by the annual Christmas tree lighting in the evening. The Katy Heritage Society's holiday evening at Heritage Park: Tuba Christmas features tuba and euphonium players from local schools performing among the decorated historic homes, then Christmas at the Park adds a holiday hayride around downtown Katy with hot cocoa. The drive-thru holiday light show at the Typhoon Texas parking lot runs nightly through the season, rain or shine. The 2026 season opens November 6 and closes January 3, 2027, with extended evening hours around Thanksgiving week and December 18-26.
